Transport in Mexico
Mexico is a very popular destination for car hire trips, so you won't be the only visitors on the roads of this beautiful country. In general, the right-hand traffic and low speed limits make driving quite easy. However, there are a few things you should bear in mind, especially when visiting Mexico City. Here you are banned from driving once a week, which is determined by the last number on your licence plate and also applies to rental cars. It can also be rather crowded and chaotic here, whereas there is very little traffic in the rest of the country and especially in the north. The roads, especially the toll roads, are generally in good condition. However, you should not be put off by the police or military on the roads, as these are part of everyday traffic. You should also be aware of the treacherous speed bumps on the roads.
