Travelling safely with travel insurance

ERV is a travel insurer of the ERGO Insurance Group and offers all customers with a place of residence or business in Germany travel insurance with all-round carefree cover with no excess. With ERGO's all-round carefree package, you are covered for every trip for up to 45 days. All-round carefree cover includes the following components:

  • Cancellation costs insurance

  • Trip interruption insurance

  • Travel health insurance with emergency medical assistance

  • Luggage insurance

  • 24-hour all-round carefree service

For trips abroad of 46 days or more, we recommend ERGO's annual insurance. Just ask us and we will be happy to inform you about the benefits.

Cancellation insurance (as part of the all-round carefree package)

Cancellation insurance covers you in the event of cancellation of the travel contract before the start of your trip. If you wish to cancel your trip before departure, cancellation costs will be incurred in accordance with the General Terms and Conditions of Sprachcaffe Reisen. If you have taken out travel cancellation insurance, your insurance will cover the cancellation costs.

  • Cancellation: Reimbursement of the contractually owed cancellation costs if the trip is cancelled for one of the insured reasons.
  • Delayed departure: reimbursement of the proven additional costs of the outward journey and the unused travel arrangements less the outward journey costs for an insured reason
  • Unexpected serious initial illness or worsening of a previous illness, provided that no medical treatment has been received in the six months prior to travelling
  • Serious accidental injury
  • Unexpected appointment to donate or receive an organ
  • Vaccination intolerance
  • Pregnancy
  • Death
  • Significant damage to property due to fire, burst water pipes or natural hazards
  • Loss of employment due to dismissal for operational reasons
  • Travel warning from the Federal Foreign Office due to Covid-19
  • Sum insured: corresponds to the insured travel price

Trip cancellation insurance (as part of the all-round carefree package)

Trip interruption insurance covers the cancellation of trips in other European countries and worldwide. Regardless of whether it is a delayed departure or the unscheduled cancellation of a trip.

  • Reimbursement of unused travel services and additional return travel costs if you have to interrupt your trip for one of the reasons listed below
  • Reimbursement of unused travel services if you have to interrupt your trip due to hospitalisation (due to an accident or unexpected serious illness while travelling)
  • Reimbursement of the cost of a hire car or additional travel expenses if your car becomes unroadworthy due to a breakdown or accident while travelling and you are therefore unable to continue your trip as planned
  • Assistance service included: we organise your unscheduled return journey
  • Unexpected serious initial illness or worsening of a previous illness, provided that no medical treatment has been received in the six months prior to travelling
  • Serious accidental injury
  • Unexpected appointment to donate or receive an organ
  • Vaccination intolerance
  • Pregnancy
  • Death
  • Significant damage to property due to fire, burst water pipes or natural hazards
  • Loss of employment due to redundancy

Please note that trip interruption insurance does not apply if, for example, you are unable to take part in the booked sightseeing programme for two days due to an upset stomach and have to stay in your hotel room.

Travel health insurance with emergency medical assistance (as part of the all-round carefree package)

Health insurance with emergency medical assistance is valid for trips in Europe or worldwide. Individual bookings based on the duration of the trip are possible. During a stay abroad, statutory health insurance is not necessarily sufficient. For example, only the German health insurance rate is reimbursed for treatment. ERV health insurance will also pay the difference for expensive private treatment.
  • Medically necessary outpatient or inpatient treatment, including operations and medicines
  • Analgesic dental treatment
  • Medical treatment of pregnancy complications
  • Aids (e.g. walking aids, hire of a wheelchair) that become necessary for the first time during the trip
  • Medically reasonable and justifiable repatriation and return of luggage to your place of residence
  • 24-hour assistance from the ERV emergency call centre in the event of a medical emergency
  • Organisation of a sick visit by a person close to you (including assumption of costs)
  • Sum insured: unlimited
  • Guaranteed assumption of costs up to € 15,000 towards the hospital

Please note: Treatments that you already know before you start your trip will have to take place during the trip for medical reasons (e.g. dialysis) are not covered.

Luggage insurance (as part of the all-round carefree package)

The all-round carefree package also covers your luggage. Losing your luggage after arriving at the airport is not only annoying, but also time-consuming and usually expensive. Luggage insurance from ERV relieves you of these problems. If your luggage is lost or damaged, you will be financially compensated.
  • Reimbursement of the current value or repair costs if your luggage is lost or damaged during the trip, e.g. due to a criminal offence committed by a third party or natural disasters (flooding, avalanches, earthquakes, etc.)
  • Reimbursement of the current value or repair costs if your checked baggage is damaged or lost while in the custody of a transport company.
  • Reimbursement for necessary replacement purchases in the event of delayed delivery of luggage up to € 250 per person.
Please note that the loss of cash is not insured.
