On our 12-day cycle tour, you will discover western and central Cuba in a sporty way and still have enough time to relax at the individual stops and sightsee along the way. Experience Cuba by bike and discover the country's most fascinating places. Start in the historic capital Havana and cycle through the lush Viñales Valley, to the pristine beaches of Cayo Jutías and on to the architectural beauty of Cienfuegos and Trinidad. Immerse yourself in the rich history of Santa Clara and enjoy the vibrant culture and intoxicating rhythm of Havana. This Cuba vacation combines physical activity with cultural experiences and offers a unique perspective on Cuba's diverse landscapes and cultural heritage.

Day 1: Havana

Welcome to Cuba! We can organize a transfer to your accommodation (optional) if you do not wish to arrange your own transport. Depending on your arrival time, you will have some time to explore Havana after moving into your accommodation.

Day 2: Havana

At 8:30 am after breakfast, meet your guide and start exploring Old Havana on foot. Visit the Malecón and other interesting sights. After lunch in a restaurant, visit the community project Callejón de Hamel, designed by the artist Salvador González. Return to the hotel and evening at leisure.

Day 3: Havana - Viñales

Pick up your Cuba bike at a bike workshop and ride into the Viñales Valley. There you will see tobacco and grain plantations as well as endemic flora and fauna. After lunch, continue your journey by bike and then take the bus through the narrow streets to your hotel in Viñales.

Cycling distance: approx. 20 km

Day 4: Viñales - Cayo Jutías

Set off on a 55 km drive to Cayo Jutías and enjoy the view of the Sierra de los Órganos. After lunch on the beach, you can explore the island on your own. Return to Viñales for overnight stay.

Day 5: Viñales

Cycle through the tobacco trails and communities of Viñales that emerged after the revolution. Learn more about the tobacco plant and buy handmade cigars ("puros") directly from the producers. Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant surrounded by authentic Cuban culture.

Day 6: Viñales - Cienfuegos

Drive to Cienfuegos and visit to Guama on the way. Boat trip on the Laguna del Tesoro, visit to a Taíno village and optional crocodile farm. Lunch in a local restaurant (not included). Continue to Cienfuegos and explore the city by bike.

Day 7: Cienfuegos - Trinidad

Cycle along the foothills of the Sierra del Escambray to Trinidad. Enjoy the view of the picturesque flora. Evening at leisure in Trinidad, with the option of visiting the discotheque "Casa de la Trova" or "Las Cuevas".

Day 8: Trinidad

Guided walk through Trinidad with information about the "Golden Age" and the sugar boom, where you can discover well-preserved mansions and experience a fascinating journey through time. Optional excursion to Playa Ancón to relax, swim or snorkel and enjoy the natural beauty of the coast.

Day 9: Trinidad

Cycle through the Valle de los Ingenios, visit sugar cane plantations and the Torre Iznaga. You have the opportunity to climb the 50 m high tower to enjoy a spectacular view. Return to Trinidad in the afternoon.

Day 10: Trinidad - Santa Clara

Ride your bike through the impressive mountain landscapes of Cuba to Santa Clara. Topes de Collantes is a nature reserve in the Sierra del Escambray, known for its diverse flora and fauna as well as its spectacular waterfalls and hiking trails. You finally reach Santa Clara in the afternoon.

Day 11: Santa Clara - Havana

Ride to Havana via Matanzas, covering around 45 km by bike and the rest by car. Explore Cuba's capital and visit museums, palaces and colonial squares.

Day 12: Havana

Depending on the flight time, you will have some time in the morning for final explorations and souvenir shopping. Optional transfer to the airport or organize your own transport.

  • do your last shopping & souvenir shopping | spend your last currency | security checks

Details about the accommodation

On this cycle tour through the west and central region of Cuba, you will spend the night in carefully selected hotels. In Trinidad, you will enjoy the hospitality of cozy private accommodation. Breakfast is included in the hotels, and you can also pay for your breakfast in cash on site in the private accommodation.

Just 7 kilometers outside Viñales lies the Hotel Rancho San Vicente. The green surroundings of the UNESCO World Heritage Viñales Valley surround the small property with its cabins, pool, and other facilities.

Cienfuegos: Hotel Jagua

Just outside the old town of Cienfuegos, directly on the bay of the same name, is the renowned Hotel Jagua. During your stay, enjoy the comfort of this 4-star hotel, managed by the Spanish hotel chain Meliá.

Trinidad: Casa Particular

In Trinidad, you will stay in a private accommodation known as a Casa Particular. These private accommodations are usually located in or within walking distance of the city center, making it easy to reach the sights of the old town.

Santa Clara: Hotel Los Caneyes

The Hotel Los Caneyes is located near the city beach of Santa Clara. The cabins are surrounded by trees and gardens. The decoration is inspired by Taíno motifs, the indigenous inhabitants of Cuba before the arrival of the Spanish.
