In addition to the breathtaking landscape, the mountain is historically significant, as the revolutionaries under Fidel Castro and Che Guevara had their hideouts here. Hikes start in Alto del Naranjo and lead through challenging routes with spectacular views, often after a stopover at an altitude of 1,360 meters.

Hiking in the Las Terrazas Biosphere Reserve

The trip to Las Terrazas in the Sierra del Rosario is also worthwhile. As an ecological project and agricultural cooperative since 1968, Las Terrazas has developed into a model for sustainable tourism and was declared a UNESCO biosphere reserve in 1985.
